Your child’s dental care starts earlier than you might think. Here’s what every parent should know.
Start Early
Wipe your baby’s gums after feeds, and start brushing as soon as the first tooth appears. Children should see a dentist by their first birthday and then regularly, so we can catch issues early and make dental visits feel normal and fun rather than scary.
Milk Teeth Matter
Milk teeth matter — they hold space for adult teeth and affect speech and chewing, so cavities in them still need treatment.
Protect Young Teeth
Limit sugary snacks and bedtime bottles of milk or juice, and ask us about fluoride application and sealants that protect young teeth.
Building Good Habits
Starting good habits early sets your child up for a lifetime of healthy smiles. Make brushing fun — use a timer, let them choose their toothbrush colour, and brush together as a family.
